"The image is a physical manifestation of divine (or royal) essence that
bears the function of that which it represents; this gives the
image-bearer the capacity to reflect attributes of the one represented and
act on his behalf. Jesus=a physical representative of God rather than a
physical representation of what God looks like."

So how could we be made in God's image yet so poorly reflect God?
I tend to think that the attributes that caste us "in His image" are inherent attributes of divine nature, rather than qualities of goodness.
Or is this already what you were saying?
I didn't understand most of what you said, so I'll try to break it down and see what works.
So how could we be made in God's image yet so poorly reflect God? That's what we say happened when we sinned. The image has been tarnished, but it can restored through relationship with God.
I tend to think that the attributes that cast us "in His image" are inherent attributes of divine nature, rather than qualities of goodness. Not sure what you mean by "inherent attributes of divine nature" and "qualities of goodness." If I had to guess what you meant by the "divine nature", I would agree
with what you're saying. But I'm still out on your "qualities of goodness."
Now that I read over my comment, it comes across as a bit harsh. I'm sorry.
It's OK Kevin. Speak your mind. We all come around as abit harsh from time to time
Hey, no problem on the harshness. You tell it like it is brother. Rather would I have harshness than foggy understanding.
You answered my first question completely.
What I mean by "divine attributes" are knowledge of good and evil and an eternal soul. Those aspects of us are like God, or "in His image."
My thought was, does "in His image" mean those aspects of Him, or qualities of His goodness? ALA love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness... etc. etc.
But based on the way you answered my question, I would say we began with a sort of perfection (qualities of goodness) and our sin ruined that; thus, God must restore us through a relationship.
